St. Louis teardrop elongated ball

does anybody know if these were ever made by anyone recently? in either .44 or .36 caliber? i live in the ST. LOUIS AREA and found it interesting about the old armory here making bullets for the civil war. just wondered how these teardrop bullets would shoot in the replica ball and cap revolvers of today.

That bullet doesn't look hugely different than a modern .45 hardball.
Wonder if one of those would work well enough for a decent test.
Just a thought.
