Square butt to round

What would be the feasibility of converting my new square butt 66 to a round butt, and what would the cost be.
According to some of the experts my mod 66 no dash is not a particullarly collectable piece especially with the crappy front night sight conversion.

Seems to run from bout $45 to $80 bucks.

Been discussed a few times in the past on TFL, search might reward you with more info.

Apologies for stepping on your thread, Perfessr, but I've been considering this modification to a 4" 29-3 which I use as a sometime carry weapon. Would this be considered an aesthetic crime?

Hey Fess-

I know a fellow that had a 4" Ruger Security-Six converted
from square butt to round butt; however, the cost of this
procedure eludes me? I might add, from the looks of things
it was a pretty neat job. If interested, I can probably track
this gentleman down for further detail's?

It looks like it would be a simple task with a good grinder, probably a good wet belt type. I figure if I got a really cheap or broken set of grips and ground off the frame just short of the grip and followed up with a dremel to final shape and finished with fine wet dry sand paper untill the finish matched.

What would you do to mask off the rest of the gun to keep out the grinding residue.

Scott, No problem as I was wondering if the Aesthetic Crime Patrol would be after me for doing such a heinous thing?

Not enough meat in the grip frame to allow doin it with just grinding. Properly done requires cuttin and welding. Details include altering the hammer spring strain screw.
