Square butt 2" Model 10 ~ asking $250

Saw this revo the other day, its in excellent shape and I could probably walk away with it for $200.

The square butt is the only thing I find disturbing... anyone have one or have any experience with one?

I have a couple older square butts, including a M10. I actually like the way they fit my hand, kind of a single-action feel.

The aftermarket grips/stocks selection is somewhat limited. If you find it to be a real problem for you, you can always get a round butt conversion done - many gunsmiths will do it, usually for $75-95 or so.

Hope this helps...

Sqaure butts can be harder to conceal. People with bigger hands may find they like them better than the round butt. Quite a bit can be done with custom grips. I'm currently in the process of trying to find the "right" grips for my square butt for concealment. I love the hougue monogrips but they print badly becuse of their rubbery texture. (they grab your cover garment) If concealment is not an issue then I can think of no reason not to buy the square butt. Of course... YMMV :)

Check Numrich. They had left over or take-offs from S&W M&Ps. These are the grips I call wagontops. 30s style with checkering in walnut. They conceal easily. I easily conceal a 4" M65 with Pachmayr Grippers in a IWB. A 2" M10 38 Special goes for $350.00 and up around here.

M10 grips

I have compared two J-frame airweights one with a square butt and the other with a round butt. I did the comparison after reading an article www.thearmedcitizen.com/gunpages/model36.htm stating how the square butt was more stable for accurate fire. I did in fact find that in the airweights the square butts shifted much less in your hand, requiring less adjusting between shots, especially with +P ammo. In the K frame snub this is probably less of an issue due to the size of the grips and the extra weight. I also measured the length of a K frame square and round butt and found the square butt longer by slightly more than 1/4", not really that significant in terms of concealment, in my opinion.

I have small hands. My answer to the square butt problem is magna grip panels and Tyler T-Grip adapters. My wife prefers this set up as well. Very controlable but not bulky.

I'm gonna drive to LA later this week and poke GunsnRovers in the ribs and pour itching powder in his socks until he cries and forks over that sweet Model 15 just to make me go away. :D

LOL.

That's my "carrot". One day when I move to a place that permits mere citizens to defend themselves outside their own homes, this will be my CCW piece. The PRK provides all the "stick" I need.

Until that time, it's partnered up with a M28 as one of the house guns.

It looked a lot rougher before Virgil Tripp cleaned it up for me.

The model 10 pictured above is exactly the same gun my wife chooses for home defense. I have a nice set of white sambar stag grips on it though. Since mine is the 5th change it can take +p OK. I(she) use Rem LSWCHP+p in it which hits right at point of aim. The square grip (as Tamara said) is harder to take away as is the snub barrel. 2" Model 10's are somewhat rarer and will go up higher in value IMHO. I like Square butt 2" m10's for some ODD reason! :D
