Springfield's "GET A $680 SCOPE, MOUNT & RINGS FOR ONLY $99" offer, that had ended on 9/30/01.

What Springfield Scope did you get?

The deal includes the 6x40 Government model scope and a 3rd generation mount for $99 WITH the purchase of an M1A. Unfortunately, Springfield won't have any scopes till the middle of November.

This AD was on S.A.'s Web Site, until sometime after 10/08/01.
It is now NO LONGER there.

OK, Springfield Armory, had an offer, that ended 9/30/01.

This offer was, buy an M1A and "GET A $680 SCOPE, MOUNT & RINGS FOR ONLY $99."

All paperwork has to be in by the END of Oct. 2001.

NOW here is the funny part;
Going by MSRP or List Price, I found that things do NOT add up,

$ 435.00 - 6x40 Goverment Model Scope #GE5085
$ 123.00 - 3rd. Gen Scope Mount #MA5038
$ 24.00 - 1 PAIR (2) Ring, Scope Mount #GP5200

$ 582.00 - GRAND TOTAL

Now what is wrong with this Math, should the total be $680?

$ 680.00 - SCOPE, MOUNT & RINGS Package
$ 582.00 - Above Items Grand Total

--------------
$ 98.00 - Differance.

Must be that NEW Math? OR we are getting the WRONG Scope!

BUT wait, look at the Ad...
The Ad did Read "GET A $680 SCOPE,....."
The 6x40 Govterment Model #GE5085 is a $435 SCOPE.

$ 680.00
$ 435.00
-
-----------
$ 245.00 - Differance.

Makes one think, Math or English?

Frank: Where are you seeing that ad? I saw the original ad last month on the SA web site and the total was correct in that one.

The AD in Question, clipped from a copy of the S.A. web page, dated 10/08/01 that I printed and saved.

That ad was removed from the web site sometime after 10/08/01. I have a hard copy that I printed out. I don't know why, but the numbers just do not add up. The way the ad was worded, may have been misleading, I am trying to get as much info on this as I can from those whom have gotten their "$99 Specials."

I am looking though back copies of "The American Rifleman" to find any print copies.

I just bought a NEW M21, the Dealer had lost the box and all paperwork within, Springfield is making good on their offer, I like that. I just find something, I don't know, out of place.

Maybe it's just the way it's worded;
"GET A $680 SCOPE, MOUNT & RINGS FOR ONLY $99."

NOT
"Get a Scope, Mount & Rings, a $680 vaule, for $99."

See what I mean.
