A friend of mine has a Springfield XDm 5.25 9mm. He's looking to sell it because he wants something different. He was saying he wants to get around 600 for it, but he would probably give it to me for less. it hasnt been shot much, probably less than 500 rounds. hes got 3 mags and all the other stuff that those guns come with, as well as a pretty nice holster.
sound like a decent deal?

New from an online retailer, the pistol would cost you about $650 out the door (including FFL fees). Springfield is running an offer where you get two extra magazines, a dual-pistol range bag and a double-mag pouch with a new Springfield XD pistol until the end of the year.

Depending on the holster (it may or may not be useful to you), I'd see if he would go a bit lower. $525 to $550 seems reasonable to me if it really only has a couple hundred rounds put through it (and you are willing to buy one over the Internet). $600 is reasonable if you look at the price in retail stores.

Not to low-ball him or anything, but if he intends to sell it to a pawn or gun store, have him see how much they are willing to give him for it (this value is going to be crazy, crazy low) and work from that.

I picked one up recently, basically unfired. I paid almost retail. My is the "Competition" model, and I suspect yours is, too.

Nice gun. Shoots well. (That said, I'm not crazy about Springfield's grip safety, but I'll learn to live with it.)

Nice shooting .45. Mine came with three mags AND a holster, all in a big Springfield box.

Looking on GunBroker.com quickly, it appears this is a reasonable price.

I compete with this pistol in USPSA and have thousands of rounds through mine. It is a workhorse and a very accurate shooter. I have put a competition trigger from Powder River in mine.

Tell him that for the same price, you can get a warranty with a new one. (I have no experience with getting used Springfields serviced...)

Springfield CS is top-notch from what I've heard. I believe they'll service stuff not purchased by the original owner.

They might ask because if you are the 15th owner or 3rd or whatever since you have no clue what the prior owners may have done.
