Springfield XD-S in 40 S&W

They just introduced it at SHOT Show. Same dimensions as the 9 and 45 versions. I picked one up at the local gun store for $419 yesterday but it was too cold to take it to the range. It's supposed to get to 15 today so I may go down and try it later.

Here are a few pics. Still haven't shot it but it's up to 5 above and the sun is out so ...

Hope you have better luck than I did with my XDs 45... built post recall, and it is on its way back to factory for the second time... failure to feed, rounds jamming in the chamber, light strikes. Of course two of my friends bought theirs about the same time and they run flawlessly. Me and Murphy... seems we are the best of friends.

You're tougher than I am.

And, of course, it looks like every XDS in 9 and .45.

I'm interested in how it shoots. I have one in 9mm, and have shot the .45 version.

Well it's 20 and snowing today but I went to the club and got in 16 rounds. Had the place to myself for some reason. I fired Blazer 165 gr, WWB 155gr FMJFPs and Xtreme 155 gr clad RNFP reloads. Everything shot well. The 7 shot mag with the grip extender felt good but the 6 shot poked at the bottom of my left palm under the pinky on recoil and I don't have big hands. I fired from 8 yards and the group was low and right by about 3", not bad for me, especially since it was first rounds. I didn't have my good glasses and am, unfortunately, right handed and left eye dominant so the prescription glasses should help next time. The recoil is snappier than my Sig 229 40 but it's very manageable. I'm 75, 5'7"", 143 lbs and other than the first shot yips had no problems. It's a keeper.
