Springfield XD and XD Mod.2 -- same hardware?

Question for anyone who might know...

The only thing I see discussed in reviews of the Mod.2 is the updated "Grip Zone" ergonomics of the frame. I just purchased a 3" subcompact model of the Mod.2.

I'm wondering whether the actual firing hardware is any different from the older XD series. Do they use the same barrels and springs for instance? Are parts compatible between them?

Does anyone know?

Well, if anyone is curious, they DO share all the same mechanical parts and differ only in the external features like grip texture.

I called the company...probably shoulda done that before I bothered posting :D

The XD(M) guns are an entirely different product line though.
