Springfield Scout

I was in a shop today and on the wall was a Springfield Scout model. Break action, all steel. It was used and chambered in .410 and 22 swift. The shop was asking 190 for it. I was facinated by it but have no knowledge of the rifle or the 22 swift. Is this a good price? Christmas is coming up and that would be a good gift for myself.
I will also say that it might have been a different 22 caliber but it definitly was not 22lr or 22WMR.

Check out www.gunsamerica.com ... I went there to remind myself of the prices - about $200 at gun shows for brand new, stainless steel M6 Scouts.

I've never owned one, and can't help you with the .22 'swift', but it looks like you should be able to get a better deal on a used Scout.

Good luck. Regards from AZ

Concur that it seems a bit steep. I paid less than $150 for my Scout (410 gauge and 22 LR combo - blued US made version). I've nothing against the CZ version mind you.

I happen to have a thing for the M6 Scouts. I have two of the original versions and one of the new CZ mades ones. I prefeer the original versions but they are very rare in the .22 Hornet/.410 versions. Since I also happen to like the .22 Hornet, I had to have one in .22 Hornet/.410 so I bought a CZ made version.

I am not sure how you got the ".22 Swift" name but the CZ produced M6's are only chambered in .22 LR over .410 or .22 Hornet over .410.

These are great little guns and are great fun to shoot. They take some getting used to since they have a strange trigger and no real forearm but they shoot good when you do.

If this is a blued version then $190 is kind of high. I bought mine for $165 which seems about average. The Stainless versions usually run around $200.

I strongly reccomend getting one for yourself since they are fun little guns. I would however reccomend getting one of them chambered in .22 LR over .410. The .22 Hornet is a great round but it is expensive to shoot if you don't reload. Find your self a .22 LR version at a better price and enjoy.
