I would go with the Springfield. In my comparisons of the two, the SA was better made. Also the Colt will probably run about $200 dollars more.

I live in N Va. Have owned both. Same price. Both had minor flaws I was unhappy with. Colt was a better shooter, but had a machinging cut on the slide that was a cosmetic flaw. Got rid of it. Springfield also had some slide cuts I was not pleased with. Also, the Springfield would not work with Wilson mags. So I got rid of it, too. In the future I will not order one, but one in stock at the gun shop, after a thorough inspection by yours truly. Bottom line: either one will please you if you get a good one. I tend to prefer the rounded main spring housing of the Springfield

Ok, how about if we throw in the Auto Ordanance 1911 Military Spec 45? How does this gun compare to the SA and the Colt Military spec 45s?

George are you refering to the current Kahr made A/O 1911's or the ones made in NY?

I'ld go with the Springfield. I'm fond of mine and it has no firing pin block so a better trigger job can be done on it. I agree with Dogger, go to a shop that has them in stock and ask to handle/inspect them to check for noticeable flaws that get past QC. I'ld pass on the AO
