Springfield Loaded vs. TRP?

I'm in the market for a new 1911. After handling all those I could lay my sweaty paws on at the SHOT show, I've decided on a Springfield "Loaded Full Size. However, I've read a bit about the TRP and am curious about the differences.

I am by no means an expert shooter (back on the range only a few months after a 15 year lay off) so I don't want/need a full on custom. But I don't want to buy something that is lacking in features or performance.

So, what exactly is the difference between the Loaded and TRP?

thanks,
Larry

To me the TRP is not worth it. I have two Springfield loaded pistols. They will both shoot a 2" group at 25 yards from a rest.

You've got to be kidding. Have you ever held the TRP? Are you kidding me?

The difference is like that of a Ford Escort and a BMW M5.

If you don't get that... then I can't explain it to you.

Find a shot that has one on the shelf and handle it. Jack the slide and feel the trigger. Then do the same to a plain "Loaded" model.

You'll know the difference.

George,

A Professional is an M5. If a "Loaded" is an Escort (nee "Focus"), then a TRP is a SVT Focus, but no M5. ;)

All vanity and pricetags aside, the differences in the accuracy of my roomie's Stainless Loaded (that cost him $650) and my Professional (that cost me exactly twice that) are fleetingly small.

For the $400-500 difference in price you would be better off getting a loaded and having a trigger job, front checkering and a blended mag well and whatever else you seem fit.

The checkering on the TRP is very sharp, and the Magwell is a two piece secured with a screw, not the best design, it uses the same barrel and sight as well as other parts.

The Loaded w/night Novaks here is under $700, a TRP is just under $1200 so for $500 you can get alot done by a good gunsmith and insure that gun will run 100%

If you have soft wussie hands like me, you should see if you like the checkering. Too harsh for me.

The loaded looks pretty cool though!

I have shot a TRP and was not impressed. It doesn't need to be explained to me. I didn't say it wasn't a great gun, I just didn't care for it.:)

That's kind'a what I thought: SA Loaded it is.

I'll run a couple thousand rounds through it before I decide if I want to have a smith tweak it. I've heard good things about Dane Burns, any other recommendations?

...never did like the M5, prefer my E55... :)

thanks all!
Larry
