Springfield Inc. M1?

Was wondering if I could get some feedback on the Springfield Armory Inc. M1. I bought the rifle new in 1982, have shot thousands of rounds through it with zero problems. After cruising through this forum, I get the feeling that maybe it's not as good as I think. If anyone has something I need to look out for or inspect alittle closer I would welcome the information.

If you have actually shot "thousands of rounds" through the rifle, "with zero problems", it doesn't seem as there is much that could be wrong with it, except perhaps that the barrel might be somewhat worn, as could be the case with other parts. You have shot it a lot though. If it is a "service grade", rather than "match grade" rifle, and it groups within 4 inches at 100 yards, I believe that you are getting "service accuracy".

Glass bedding, and possibly some careful trigger adjustment might improve things somewhat, then they might not either. How does it actually group, how is headspace. If these parameterts are o.k., then enjoy it, and don't worry yourself to death.

Thanks for the relpy. Since I found this site I've gained alot of knowledge, but sometimes knowledge can get one to thinking and thinking can lead to worry. I felt (and still do) that it is a good weapon, but after reading some of the other posts about the "TM" recievers I wanted to check with someone. Thanks.
