Does anyone own a Springfield Armory Custom Loaded Champion or shoot one? Just trying to get as much info. on it as I can.
How does it shoot?
How reliable is it?
How accurate is it?
How concealable is it?

Thanks guys!

I don't know about that word "Custom" but I have a SA Loaded Champion.

When I first started using it, I was dissatisfied with its poor accuracy. I should have kept it as is, because I complained to SA and they installed a match barrel in it. Nice, huh? Well, it shoots great, but it wasn't reliable until I get a much smaller barrel link...they installed on that was WAY too long. Lock-up is a little to tight still.

The recoil spring must be extremely heavy on the Champion to make it work right, which is a PITA compared to a full-size.

Assuming you're carrying IWB, there's no difference in concealability between the Champion and a full size.

I finally decided to switch to a full size and I'm much happier about it. I don't think I'll sell my Champion any time soon, though.

Someday I'll learn to type.

I have one...Had problems with the original parts...Extractor,ejector, slide stop. Replaced with Brown and everything's ok now...Have about 2500 rds through it...The first 1000 spent finding the stuff to replace and just wringin' it out...Mine was made in '99 and doesn't have as nice a finish as the newer ones...I'd still buy another one. I'd just toss the parts I mentioned in my spares bag and replace them with quality parts at the beginning to save time...As far as accuracy...Better than I can hold...At 20 meters they'll all be touching from a rest...This is with the stock barrel and link. I've changed to a Wolff 18 or 20lb recoil spring and would go just a bit lighter if they made one...I also tried some shortened Commander springs and had good luck...

Reliability is good with the new parts installed...I use the original 7-rd mags from Mec-Gar and have had good luck with the 8 & 10 rd Power mags from CMC...I usually change those springs to Wollf after they take a set and keep them as spares...

You might want to start out with a 5" in the standard Government configuration before you try all the "variations"...I think the 1911 experience you want is out there and you should start with the original...You'll be buying more anyway and the first one will always be special...If you already have a 5"...then try a Champ...or Pro-Carry or whatever...Combat Commanders are cool in all the different variations...

...as long as it's a 1911, you'll be hooked...
