Springfield Compact with a Kimber recoil spring/guide ?

Man I thought my Colt Commander was hard to reassemble! My new Springfield Compact was a real mother to get assembled. I can see why Kimber uses the trapped spring on a guide system. Does anyone know of a spring/guide assembly for my SA?

Also why is the spring plug hollow? Looks like a good way for dirt to work it's way inside.........Thanx.........Mike

I have a Springfield compact also. One of the first things I had done was have a local smith install a full length guide rod with a hole drilled for a take down tool(paper clip)
I liked this much better. I don't know where he ordered from however. I suspect any smith in your area could do this or advise on where to get one.
