Springfield Armory XD Series

Anybody have an opinion on the new Springfield Armory XD series semi-auto pistols. How do they compare to Glocks or Sigarms? I have a Glock 23C in 40 S&W but I worry about hitting the trigger and setting off a round when pulling it or putting it in a holster. I have looked at the XD in 40 S&W and like the extra safety on the back strap and its much cheaper than a Sig.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

I like the XD (or HS2000) better than the Glock. The grip is better, the trigger is marginally better than my G30, and the mag situation is much better (if you don't mind a little dremel action). I'm not sure if the finish will hold up to the fabled Tenifer and Glock is winning in the caliber/size/accessory war (though neither hold a candle to the 1911/BHP). The Sig is in another league. If you like the DA/SA and prefer a steel gun, then the Sig beats the others easily. If there was a SA Sig, I would be all over it, but the DA/SA is what keeps me away (while I own examples of all the other guns I've mentioned). Some day I'll get one to round out the collection. The mags are half the price of glock mags and the XD can use Sig mags with a small modification. It's all up to what you like and what you are going to use it for. LAter.

Hello - & welcome to TFL.

You'll notice a SEARCH here at the web site. You might want to make use of it for this topic. I personally don't own any major caliber poly handguns, but on this site & the HS2000 page (which, incidently, the XD is - they are building them for SA) you'll find more conversation that what you can read.

An outsider's take on the gun? Appears to be a very good quality pistol with attractive features at a (still) competitive price. From all I have read, I have been led to believe it is every bit as good a pistol as a Glock.

I have the XD-40. The only REAL advantage over Glock was the price, and the grip angle. For me, the grip angle was all it took.
1200 rounds so far without a problem. 800 without cleaning. Using factory mags.
