Greetings,
Just spent my first morning with a new TRP Operator and M3 light.
No "failures" of any kind, shoots 2" @ 20 yrds. with 230 gr. lead RN reloads, tight as a drum, even wear on all sliding surfaces, and possessing a very good sight picture. Wilson 8 rounders lock in and slide lock as required, and mag well is plenty wide.
Not thrilled with the "Grit Grips," definately will go with MD Labs for those, and Burns Ignition System for the lockwork just for piece of mind. 20 LPI checkering is a bit much on the frontstrap but tolerable.
M3 functions as advertised, with mounting and unmounting completed in less than 2 seconds.
Not a bad package...
SEVERAL DAYS LATER
Further testing and inspection has revealed more...
1. Forward thumb grip results in severely cut weak-hand thumb due to thumb resting in the rear-most area of the left side light mounting groove. Or more simply stated, the combination of muzzle rise and having one's thumb in the light groove results in a cut thumb.
2. Internal inspection reveals lockwork finish comparable to that of Chinese manufactured 1911s. I though the reason behind MIM was to produce finely finished parts???
3.Rear sight blade WILL cut your hand wide open during fast clearing drills.
4. "Bad-Ass" appearance has power to convert (at least 2) Glock guys to 1911s.
