Springfield Armory TRP Operator on the way!

And I've got a few questions.
What are the benefits to the bull barrel? Do I absolutely need to use that tool to take it apart or is there a way around that?

(Regardless I'll be buying the extra barrel & bushing. I already have the GI guide rod and spring. To keep things on an easy note. Preparing for worst case scenario here. Always do.)

This will be another concealed carry gun and home defense gun. I'm only down to 4 handguns now including the TRP. SIG Sauer P226 and P229 both in 9mm. A Glock 42. And now this TRP.

I sold the custom Glock 41 to help my purchase while also replacing my pig hunting side arm.

My pistols run lights so I needed it with a rail. Even the stock photos of this thing make shudder.

Anyways sorry I got off track, just giving some insight to my fellow 2A supporters.

I've heard amazing things about them and I've always wanted one. I still owe just a pinch more on the layaway so bear with me.

So, bull barrel? And anyone have personal time with a TRP care to share?

I have one and it is one of the BEST shooters I have. I do not like the one piece guide rod. I did watch some videos to see the best way to field strip and then. . .I found the Dawson one piece tool less guide rod. I bought that and it takes some muscle to get it installed but it seems to be working fine.

The trigger on mine is a bit heavy and has some grittiness right before the break that seems to be working out. I don't want to lighten the trigger but hope the grittiness works out. The dealer told me they would send it back to Springfield but I am holding off for a while.

The trigger should not have left the factory that way. I have about 300 rounds through it and nary a malfunction.

Did have to adjust the sights but they are right on now.

You will LIKE the gun. You have made a good choice.

I have one other Springfield 1911 in 9mm. It is a real shooter also.

Please advise if you do anything different about the factory guide rod.

Thank you so much for that review. It's much appreciated as always Geetarman! Hope all is well with you and the family.

Could you please send me a link to that one piece guide rod? You're saying it doesn't require you to have that tool to take down the factory setup?

I'll let you know via PM if I change anything with it.

Also, yes. I heard it has one of the best triggers out there for a 1911.

Personally, I'd send it back if I was you.

Constantine,

If you decide to go with a bushing and barrel won't you have to have the slide machined for the bushing?

Can you just put a different barrel, bushing and gude rod in the gun without doing that?

Congratulations on the TRP. Look forward to your range report.
Thank you :)
Thank you much. I will be buying 2 of those. :)

That's an awesome question that I no longer need to search the answer for because some cool guy sent me a link to fix the problem without going through the hassle of a new barrel and assembly. :D thanks again.

Sorry for the delay. Still owe $268.
I did however, already get all the gear ready.

• Raven concealment OWB w/surefire X300

• Raven concealment OWB dual mag carrier

• Surefire X300 Ultra

• 8 Wilson Combat 47D magazines

• Outlaw holsters appendix tuckable holster (for work)

Almost there guys. Almost there.

During that break in for the goal of accuracy as you say, was it at least reliable?

I'll be trusting my life to this gun, it's not going to be just a range gun. Also did you have to adjust the sights?

Constantine,

I did have to adjust my sights quite a bit right. My police officer friend shot it yesterday and it shot to point of aim not only for him but for me also.

I am having the trigger worked on to get rid of the grittiness. The gun is a real shooter. . . .but so is the Sig Nightmare. . .life is good.

Still can't believe you need to work on the trigger when it should have been perfect from the factory. The nerve.

I want it to shoot point of aim. I heard some people say it needs a 6 o'clock hold. I really prefer point of aim.

Can't wait to test it out. Maybe it's just the people holding it funky.

My trigger was amazing out of the box. As for the break in it was to tighten the grouping up for accuracy. Was shooting 6in groups at 25 yrds took it down 3in off hand.

Gun has zero reliability issues. I hand it to everyone and it shoots dead on poa.

POA is what I'm used to. So that's a relief. I hate changing the hold when I'm already used to one kind.

That's weird... I'll do some ammo dumps here and there then.

They build the gun super tight its the only 1911 i had to break in. Even on more expensive stuff.

I think alot of it might be the thickness the np3 coating adds to touch points. Rail and slide barrel and slide

Yep, should have been perfect. . .but it wasn't. I could have sent it back but I KNOW the smith at the range will get it all sorted out.
