Springfield armory champion 1911 9mm

Well, how did it shot? :)
The further a model strays from the design of Mr. Browning, the more chances issues will crop up.
Size and caliber redesigns can be two big ones.
But since it's a Springfield that's probably of little to no concern.
They do have the tendency to get things right.
So, how about a range report?

If it shoots anything like my full size 1911 Springer in 9mm then it is a smooth soft shooter, mine is like butter, I love it and should bring it to the range more often. Let us know how the Champion shot?

The 9mm shot like butter very smooth and acuite recoil you barely feel it I could have shot it all day and not have a problem

The new RO Champion 9mm looks like a lot of gun for the money ($753 on Bud's site). I wouldn't worry about the configuration, Springfield worked any bugs out of their aluminum framed, bull barreled 1911s long ago. My LW Ultra Compact 9mm is about 12 years old and even with it's 3.5" barrel it runs like a champ and is a very comfortable gun to shoot.

If I didn't already own some Commanders the new RO Champion would definitely be on my radar.

I'm very pleased with my Springfield Range Officer Compact 9mm. I believe the only difference between the Champion and Compact is the Compact has a shorter Officer's style grip. I debated between the two and went small but occasionally wish I'd gone with the Champion. However with a full length magazine and a cheap sleeve the Compact basically is a Champion. Either is a great choice but the Champion is harder to find locally. Better jump on it if you see them in stock. Both are great little pistols and it's nice that Springfield offers both grip sizes.

I have been looking at buying a 1911 in 9mm and the champion has got my eye.
I have a stainless Springfield Champion Loaded in 45acp that is accurate, and have had zero problems with it.
