Picked up my Springfield 1911 yesterday, blued with adjustable sights.
First Impressions: If you order the adjustable sight, do not expect anything resembling Bomars, it is simply a drift adjustable Novak(bummer, but it shot to point of aim anyway so not terible). Second, the bluing is kinda delicate, it recived a few scracthes during the first disassembly(mainly around the slide stop). Probably end up getting it hard-chromed eventually. This paticualar gun has a very tight slide to frame fit, with a looser bushing to barrel fit. The trigger is around 5 lbs with no creep and a crisp break.
Range: In 100 rds I had 5 failure to feeds using PMC 230gr ball and Winchester 185gr FMJ SWC, altough one could have been operator error(my little brother might have limp wristed). Strangely enough, it fed the 185gr better than the 230. All but one of the FTFs were on the last round in the mag(stock 7rd mags, I'm thinking they might be the culprit). I experinced several failures to engage the grip safety(too high a hold). I didn't run any groups(expect to do that today) but it shot very close to point of aim. It was very controlable with the 185gr loads(more so than one S&W 3913 I've fired), the 230gr loads were also controlable, but slower back on the target.
Final Comments: Sweet gun! It's my first 1911, so I need to work on engaging the grip safety, and get somewhat more familar with the controls. Should fufill the role of IPSC Limited gun nicely though.
