Springfield 1911 National Match?

Not too long ago I handle a plain blued non-loaded 1911 from SA. The gun was 100% made in America. It also had a tight fit. Anyone know anything about this? It is supposed to be a National Match 1911. I can't seem to find anything on the search.

It might have been their Trophy Match . I have had 2 of them and they were great guns . They are still being made and are on the Springfield website . They have a Trophy engraved on the side and are marked "Trophy Match" . Good luck , Mike...

Unfortunitely this didn't have the trophy engraved. It was pretty much a no-frills model. The lug in the front was stainless and looked quite different from the regular ones. I was suprised by the tight slide to frame fit. I'll have to question the dealer much further to see what it actually is. Trigger pull was excellent also.

Almost all of Springfield's frames and slides are made in Brazil and their basic guns, which is what you're describing I think, should be marked " FI Brazil" on the dust cover.

The custom guns- such as the Trophy Match- are a bit different. SA imports partially machined frames and completesthem here. Since it ain't a gun until the slide rails are cut (which they do here) they can legally say it's made in USA.

But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them, and I think the Trophy Match is probably the best buy around for a basic accurized pistol.
