Springfield 1911 Key Safety

I have a Springfield Mispec 1911 with the new key lock. The thumb safety is hard as h*** to disengage. Could this be caused by the lock mechanism? If so how difficult is it to remove? I have no experience with key lock guns and probably wouldn't have bought the gun had I realized it had the lock. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:)

A lot of people, me included do not approve of such superfluous parts in our guns. But the key lock does not act on or affect the thumb safety.

Called the ILS. No problems with mine.

You can get a replacement MSH from several manufacturer's. Basically any of the high end 1911 custom market offers replacement parts. The parts are cheap. Hard to match finish is what I hear as a common complaint. Minor fitting requirement.

m1911 forum site has lots of posts on this subject.
They have a Springfield section.
