Springfield 1911-A1 in 9mm Model PX9130L vs. STI Trojan 9mm

I want a 1911 in something other than .45ACP. The 9mm version would be nice and cheap to shoot.

So far, the only 2 options that have caught my eye are the Springfield PX9130L and the STI Trojan.

What are your comments and input regarding these 2 pistols and any other suggestions?

Will the 1911 reliably function in 9mm vs .45ACP?

Hello. I cannot speak to the Springfield 9mm you mention, but do own and shoot an STI Trojan in 9mm. My gun happens to be the "long slide" 6" version. I've likely got around 2K rounds through it now and reliability has been 100% with every ball or JHP round it's fired, be it factory, handload, standard pressure or +P. One caveat here: With standard pressure rounds, the long slide actually needs a slightly less stout recoil spring as most will not lock the slide back on the last shot while the warmish handloads and +P do. This could be easily corrected, but I normally use this pistol for target and plan to use it on small game in which the warmer loads will be used.

Accuracy is first rate. The gun shoots much tighter than I can and I actually like it better than my SIG P210 as it does NOT bite me when firing and extra magazines, parts, etc are more plentiful and much, much, much less expensive.

Recoil is nil.

Mine has the 1-piece feed ramp and it seems to work just fine.

Below is a picture I took of this pistol and a group fired with it from 15 yards, off-hand. It's quickly becoming a favorite pistol and one that competes with the best of them in terms of reliability and accuracy, at least in my limited experience.

Best.

I have the loaded model Springfield in both full size and Ultra Compact.

Neither has given me a moment's trouble and each is quite accurate.

Good guns, IMNSHO.

I just ordered the Springfield Armory 1911 px9130L in 9mm.

This will be my first Springfield Armory gun, it seems like most folks think highly of the Springfields, I hope they are correct.

I am looking forward to shooting it, if it shoots like it looks, it'll be great.
