Springfield 1911 10mm?? (not an Omega)

Did any of you know Springfield made a 1911 pattern 10mm? Its NIB, two mags, short trigger, arched mainspring, matte military type finish. Full length guide rod and says "LINKLESS" on the slide. It's asking is $499.

I'm very interested in buying this gun but I'd really appreciate feedback you all may have. I never knew SA made a gun like this.

The Springfield 10mm Linkless was made as their "90's Edition" series pistols. I have never disassembed one of these, but I think they discarded the swinging link common on most 1911's in favor of a system like most modern pistols. I have not seen any aftermarket barrels in such a pattern, so this may factor into your buying decision. The 10mm was discontinued in 1991, so there are few of them to be found. $499 for nib sounds about right.

linkless

i shot a friends linkless model and it proved to be very good . the linkless format borrowed from peter stahl was very effective.

when SA dropped it from their listing interest dipped. spares may be an issue but a competant gunsmith can fix anything if needed.

at that price , if i had the option to buy , i will snap it.

i think G&A had a revew of it in '92 and it was a very favaourable write up.

just my .02

One of the big problems with the Springfield Linkless (non-Omega) pistols was that many were assembled with .45 ACP breechface slides. You may wish to check for this.

In addition, the Peters Stahl guide rods for the Omega had a reputation for breaking over the recess for the slide stop pin. Later versions of the guide rod had an extra bit of metal bridging the slide stop pin's recess. You can see this illustrated at:

Thanks for the link - it was helpful, and also for the tip about the .45 ACP slides. I don't know how to check for that but I'm going to go in again today and check out the gun before it goes back to SA for a bit of minor warranty work.

I can see the gun may have issues, but still can't help myself - I want it. Tough to pass it up. I called SA and it was mfg'd in 1990 - it is totally new, I doubt it's ever been fired. It even has all the manuals and stuff in the box, with the cleaning gear; and the cleaning brush that comes with it has clearly never seen the inside of a barrel.

If I can establish the gun at 100% reliable, I'm gonna carry it.
