A real 1873 in original configuration and good condition is rather uncommon.
Lots of reworking and upgrades over the next 20 years.
Note that there were several different models all still marked 1873 until 1884.
It is going to take close clear pictures and a very detailed description to get many opinions.

The rifle is pretty worn and looks real old. I know for sure it wasn't made recently. He also got it 20 years ago by someone who had it for years
