Sprinco Recoil Reducers - NE1 know??

Generally yes they work. To realize the full benefit you must use full power factory ammo, using light reloads you may notice no benefit. I have them in over a dozen of my own pistols. I love them. I know sensop has one in his Commander. If you told me what gun and caliber you plan on using it in I might be able to give you a better idea. Best thing is to try it. Sprinco has a great policy where you can try it for 30 days and return it for a full refund if you don't like it.

I think it depends on what gun you would want to mount it in. I've got a sprinco for my Sig P220 that I love. But the one for my P99 doesn't do much for me. I just can't feel that much of a difference in recoil. Not to mention that it rubs on the top of the guide rod hole on my slide. Not that I'm totally displeased, otherwise I would have sent it back. It's just that I don't shoot it much.

I tried one and wasn't impressed. Definitely changed the way the cycle felt though I don't know if it was better or worse.

It's laying on my work bench unused at the moment.

Dave, don't do it man. I went through the same dilemma, looked at numersous post, called sprinco etc. Anyway, I got it in the mail-here is my report: A nicely finished product, easy to install and remove, did not one thing for my Glock 36 even with hot loads, I was really disappointed, but with their 30 day money back guarantee you can't lose, but I wouldn't waste my time. Good luck.

I read that Sprincos most effective recoil reducer was for the P99. The one flaw of the P99 is its recoil assembly; its too weak by most standards. Allegedly it made the somewhat snappy recoil of the 40 cal model more user friendly and made ejected brass not fly so far. Heres an email recieved by a member of a different discussion forum from Sprinco -

We have a system that works great on the Walther. In designing it, we found that in order to get the desired effect in reducing recoil, case ejection "range", and reliable cycling, that we had to go with a really stiff
recoil spring. Once you get used to the manual lock back of your slide when you are ocassionally locking it back by hand, it is like riding a bicycle. It locks back fine after the last round when fired. I'm not maligning the design, in
fact it has some of the best results of any of our systems, but it just takes a bit of consideration vs. what you have grown used to in that single function. The price is $74,95 $6.75 S & H.

Does anyone have experience with the Sprinco in the P99?

I'm on the fence with my Sprinco and P99 9mm.

From my perspective, it indeed makes a noticeable difference by softening and knocking off the edges off the pistol's recoil. Until I learned the "trick," it was a real bear to get it into place the first few times. It's no big deal now, but was a giant headache maker back then. Also, I'll second Redhook's comment on the lameness of the rub. Interestingly, it sits unused in my range bag because I think the novelty simply wore off. At the end of the day, it works as advertised but I figure why bother ... maybe it's because I don't shoot hot Corbons?!

*** I've had a recoil spring on order from Walther USA since the end of July - backorder. Think Earl's can help me?!

Thanks for the reminder Johnny. I totally forgot about how stiff that spring was. Yes, it is a pain to manually rack the slide on P99.

Again, I'm not totally displeased with the unit. It does take a little bit of the snap out of the .40S&W. So, if you can live with a few other minor issues, I say give it a shot. If you're shooting 9mm, I don't think you'll get much benefit out of it.

Like I said, I really really like the Sprinco I have for my P220. I wished the P99 was built that way. What is somewhat unique about the P220 model is that it has a bushing that fits into the guide rod hole in the slide. The actual Stainless Steel guide rod rides inside this bushing and never touches the slide. Alan said that they couldn't make it work like that for the P99. It's too bad. That is a very nice unit.

Sprinco for Ruger P90

I have a SPRINCO reducer for my P90. I'm real happy with it. What the SPRINCO really does in my gun is significantly reduce frame battering. It also changes a snappy recoil into more of a push. I'm shooting +P+ handloads through my P90 (230 g. Golden Sabres at 1000 fps). I also shoot 230 grain factory hardball. It has functioned flawlessly.

I use the Sprinco's in my competition Beretta's to replace the guide rod, then adjust recoil with various rate Wolf springs to suit load. Works for me.
