spotting scope help

I am looking for a spotting scope and came across few that i like. in my area the range goes out to 200 yards. Now as I learned before with guns it always the same you buy best quality cause "you will give it to our grand kids". I got a 200 gift cert to spend on what ever i like . I figure spotting scope is what i need. I never owned one so i am not sure which one i should get. Before i ask about brand i want to find out what you guys recommend 20-60x60 vs 15-45x60. now i mentioned i only shoot up to 200 yards but as i am getting more and more in to sport of shooting i will be going up to 500-600 yards or more. so i wonder if 15-45x60 is enough or 20-60x65 is the way to go.

Now i am a fan of Leupold as i do own a scope by them and binoculars . i was looking at Leupold Sequoia 15-45X60Mm Spotting Scope for about $280 and also found Bushnell 20-60x65mm Trophy Spotting Scope for $180 .
I would really appreciate if you guys can set me straight and perhaps recommend a nice scope. I know you get what you pay for but i read some good reviews on Bushnell ( Leupold nothing but great reviews) . Thanks in advance.
 
I have a 15X60 Redfield and love it.
A bullet hole can get mighty tiny at 100, or more, yards away. I use the 60 power a lot and I shoot muzzle loaders in .45 and .54 caliber.
IMHO, you would be limiting yourself with a 45X scope.
 
If you can, take a peek through which ever scopes you are interested in and see how they perform as far as resolution, brightness, and clarity at all settings at the range distance you plan to shoot. I tried a $80 Bushnell 15-60 spotting scope. At both ends of the spectrum the image turned dim and grainy. I returned it and bought a 15-45 Bausch/Laum (spelling?) scope that I can use out to 600 yds. on a cool day. A 60x would be nice though. :cool:
