Spot Blasting Gun

Ok going to be refinishing another pistol.this time a Sig P6 aluminum frame. I don't plan on using a blaster much and am on a fixed income hence my choice, I found a 20 oz hopper gravity feed spot blaster from Harbor freight for $15.00.
has anyone used this to blast a pistol? if so how did it work for you? If noone has used some feedback from others what you think on if it would do job? I'm not sure if it would work on a steel frame pistol since you need a high pressure, but since your only working with 5-10lbs pressure on a aluminum frame blasting to avoid removing anodization I think it should work right? what's everyone's thoughts?

Much of what you want to do depends on line pressure and the blasting medium. I've used that type of gun and sand and it will remove rust from car bodies in no time. Sounds like ground walnut shells might be what you need. I would call around to suppliers and ask telling them you want to clean up a piece of anodized aluminum, sometimes too much info is not good.

And use a test piece before you start blasting on someones gun frame. TF

Anodizing is very hard aluminum oxide. The areas that the anodizing is worn on are much softer, and will wear quicker when sandblasting-leaving an uneven finish. Use the oven cleaner first, then blast.
