Just got back from the gunshop and saw a cherry Springfield 1911-A1 in 10mm. I didnt even know there was such a gun. Any imput would be great. Thanks, j.s.parker.

Unless Springfield has reintroduced the 10mm, this is one of the Linkless models from the early '90s. It used a linkless barrel system designed by Josef Peters, the same fellow responsible for the multi-caliber Omega conversion. Unlike the Omega, this version retains the original 1911 slide and bushing.

I've heard some bad things about the longevity of the Peters Stahl Linkless system with full-power 10mm, and have also learned that many were built with slides using .45 ACP breechfaces. If you break the Linkless system, Springfield will reportedly offer to rebuild the pistol as a conventional 1911.
