Sphinx SDP Compact Accessories

To all the Sphinx compact owners out there:
1) Have you tried P-07 holsters to see if the SDP compact fits? I ordered a crossbreed super tuck for the P-07 so we'll see how that goes.
2) Have you found anyone selling the 15 round magazines besides KRISS? They're out of stock currently on the 15s.
3) Anyone know what the deal is with the HALO H3F sights from KRISS? I've seen them in YouTube videos but their website has no ordering info.

As an aside, I'm going to try out a Wolff 17# hammer spring and the CGW non-captive stainless guide rod and sprint kit. Will report back when they arrive.

Some P07 holsters work some do not. I went with a Bravo Concealment Kydek holster but I have been told by Walt Sherrill here on the forum that the P07 holster from http://aliengearholsters.com/ works and feels great. They are also very affordable. If you are looking for leather Milt Sparks can make a VMII for the Compact.

J&G carries the Compact mags but they too are out of stock at the moment. I picked up 4 sub-compact mags from Donna at DB Flanagan Guns the other day for $29 a pop but they could not get me compacts. When they are back in stock she will be able to get them to you for $29.

I have not seen the HALO H3F sights from KRISS but there are people who got them on their SDPs from the factory and I have read nothing but positives about them.

Thanks for the response! I think the crossbreed should be ok since it's a hybrid like the AG. I've checked gunshops in Louisville for mags but most had never heard of Sphinx to begin with. Guess I'll be waiting for them to come back in stock on KRISS's site.

Re: holsters and magazines.

Holsters:

In addition to the AlienGear holster mentioned above, I have a leather AKER OWB holster for an HK 40 compact (marked HK-40C, Aker model 168-A). It's a great looking holster, comfortable to wear, and a perfect fit.

If you take your gun to a gun show you can probably find a number of holsters that will fit -- there are usually vendors there with a wide variety, and even holsters NOT intended for your weapon often work very well.

Magazines:

I picked up two Canik Stingray-C 9mm 15rd Magazine from J&G sales, and they were about $25. They are almost identical to the Sphinx holsters. They don't quite lock into place until you trim a bit of the material off the top of the hard plastic/rubber(?) base plate. Then they work like factory mags -- the only obvious difference is the color of the follower (Blue in the Canik mags, Red in the Sphinx mags) and the price. I got mine at J&G Sales: http://www.jgsales.com/magazines-c-332_178_1164.html

Trimming the Canik mags:

Put some masking tape about 1/16th of an inch below the top of the baseplate, leaving the area to be removed uncovered -- and trim it with a Dremel cutting tools or razor blade. It's easy, and there's plenty of rubber left so there little danger of ruining the mag.

Some other Mag Options:

Some compact CZ mags will also work, but I'm told the ones for the CZ P-01 have a base plate that's too thick, and I don't if they can be trimmed. (Those mags are more costly, too.) The only CZ compact mag I still have does fit right -- but it's not a factory mag -- but others might not. I think it might be a Pro-Mag compact .40 mag for the CZ.

Pro-Mag CZ compact mags for the 75B compact in .40 (a gun CZ never really made) worked beautifully in all of my compact CZs over the years; they are the only Pro-Mags I've ever recommended. (I've also had good luck with other Pro-Mags, but not with full-size CZ Pro-Mags.)

If I ever saw any, I'd be tempted to try Mec-Gar compact CZ mags. I'm not sure they make those mags yet. They would likely be even less expensive than the CANIK mags.

Mec Gar Cz Compact mags work in my Canik C-100,so if Stingray mags work in the Sphinx then the Mec Gar should work in the Sphinx , also.
Does that make sense?

It does make sense, particularly since you said "Compact" rather than compact... some of the compact models (like the P-01) have a different base plate which is thicker and I'm told it won't lock up in the. I don't know if THAT baseplate can be trimmed. And, the prices of those mags aren't particularly cheap. (I have not seen Mec-Gar CZ Compact mags; if you can find them, they should be a lot cheaper than CZ Factory mags.)

That's why I went the CANIK STINGRAY route...

Warning: EAA/Tanfoglio compact mags will NOT work in a CZ or a Sphinx -- they're quite a bit shorter.

One thing I have noticed about Sphinx SDP holsters. The profiles of the Compact and the Sub-Compact are the same. The 2 holsters that I have for the SDP Compact also fit the sub compact.

My Bravo Concealment and my Safariland ALS holster. It is longer than necessary but they work.

I'll probably end up with the subcompact eventually. At least after the tight slide issue gets worked out. So good to know I'll already have a holster.
