Spetsnaz saiga 12

sorry if this question has already been asked at some point.
but i am lacking in the knowledge department when it comes to the saiga 12.
i watched a show recently where they simulated a stand off between the American Green Beret VS Russian Spetsnaz. The green beret used a pump action while spetsnaz used a semi auto saiga. The saiga triumphed,
and i thought it seemed like a pretty good shotgun.
what is everyone's knowledge and opinion on the subject??? :D

Love the saiga 12. Although most work and are supposed to work with birdshot mine will not. But buckshot and slugs are perfect. 10 round mags and even 20 round drums are available if u have enough money. Check out saiga-12.com for tons of other info.

Make sure your gas plug is on setting 2 for light loads. Check your gas ports some were imported with only 2 instead of 3 or 4 ports. RAA was warrantying the 2 hole "vodka specials" via Cadiz Gun Works. Get a dental pick and use it to clean the ports out. You can also do some polishing of the bolt or just keep shooting, it should loosen up.

They are a fine rugged, low maintenance shotguns.

I'm inclined to believe the Spetsnatz doesn't even use a Saiga all that much, if at all. I know what show you're talking about, I think it was on SPIKE or VS., which should give a hint at it's credibility.

It was on deadliest warrior and well they try to keep things accurate but umm some of the trials are kinda funny. Both sides are always way to confident and when they lose well in real life we would of won.....

Not to hijack but I thought the episode was bogus.

They took the Saiga against the Mossberg shotgun instead of an M4 Super 90 (the M1014)

They gave the knife extra points because it was a projectile weapon when not expected to be, took points off the shovel because it swung slow despite the fact he could get multiple strikes on multiple targets at almost longer than melee distance.

They lined up the SVD against the M24 (why not M21? It's available if needed)

The biggest thing that gets me, as far as testing goes, (the scientist in me rages over this) they only performed one trial for test data instead of, say, 5 trials and used those averages for their data. In the pistol challenge the Green Beret took it too fast and missed a couple of targets. Happens to me when I have to go against a clock and I know what the best time was.

There were other things like 5.45 vs. 5.56 through walls, bodies, wound channels. I could go on and on and on and many of you would go on more than I could.

Sorry for the rant, but they short changed the GB's over the Speznaz (the sniper thing wasn't really that big of a thing, tools for each job) and we all know Marine Force Recon could tie those Russians into pretzels ;)

Saiga 12 is arguably the premier tactical shotgun in the world. It's definitely right up there with the M4. It's indestructible and extremely fast.

That being said, I would feel just as comfortable with my 11-87 Police model. Comes down to tube vs. magazine fed shotgun and which one the user feels most comfortable with.

-Cheers
