speedloader holders?

Hey all;

I have a question: with my new S&W 37, I also purchased a speedloader to keep in my purse. I'm sure there are all sorts of possibilities for keeping the loaded speedloader enclosed in something (to keep it clean, keep the rounds from getting dinged up, keep M&M crumbs out of it, etc :) ) I can't find anything that combines a holder for the speedloader with a holster, but at the moment I'd settle for a holder that can either hook onto my purse, onto my waistband, or just sit happily in a pocket or purse.

Any ideas? Preferably not hideously expensive ideas? :rolleyes:

I can't remember the name of the item ,but they were made by Bianchi and one other company.They look like a cigarette case and hold 8 rounds of .38 or .357, made of plastic. Anybody recall what the name is? I see them at gunshows for $10 , a dump pouch might be another option. Sorry I don't think I was much help here ,good luck! Regards 18DAI.

If you were going to use speedloaders, I might suggest a small,bright colored cosmetic case or something similar. It will keep them together, clean and easy to spot.

My solution

for years I carried a pistol with me in my work van... I had a carry on and off bag that contained paper work and in that was the pistol/revolver. I wanted both a holster to keep the gun clean and able to remove it fast as well as the speed loaders with it. Here's what I came up with.... I used about 12" of velcro to hold the speed loader case to the front of the holster.

Some ideas to consider:

Cunningham Leather, a female owned shop, has a unique speedloader pouch that straps around a belt and places the loader hoizontally rather than vertically. Perhaps this could fill the bill?

Safariland has this offering for J-frames that snaps around the belt. This could conceivably be stapped to/in your purse?

Here's another Safariland offering that may work made of epoxy with a clip attachment.

Bell Charter Oak has some options available that may also work fo you circumstances.

thanks, guys

Good ideas, all. That gives me a place to start ( and the cosmetic case is a great short-term idea, at least!) A long as I don't pull out the wrong thing from my purse in the ladies' room when I powder my nose.... :eek:

Springmom,

Bulldozer's link to the women's gun gear is worth the look. That speedloader carrier might work if you wear a belt. If you're looking for something inside your purse, I'd start with an Uncle Mike's speedloader pouch made of cordura nylon and see if you can make a velcro attachment inside your purse for it (or on the holster).

With regard to the plastic "cigarette case" style ammo carrier, those were called "Case Guard" and made by MTM. They had models to carry 6, 12 or 18 rounds of ammo. They're not real fast to reload from, but they do offer a method to carry spare ammo inconspiciously.

I use the speed strips from Bianchi (and others.) I find these are easier to cary (flat) than are the speed loaders (round.)
