seen them posted here...people carrying speedloaders and speed strips. Never heard of otherwise. what are they?

They're made by, I believe, Bianchi.

Basically they are a rubber strip with recessed and lipped cutouts into which you snap the rims of the cartridges.

The cartridges are held in a straight row, meaning that it lies flat in a pocket.

To use, you insert the cartridge into the chamber, and twist the speed strip to "peel" the cartridge out if it.

If you practice, you can load two chambers at a time.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

I have a friend who bought a set for his GP-100 and after a range session with these Speed Strips said, "These aren't Speed Strips, they're Slow Loaders." ; ) They are best used where one wants to carry cartridges so they won't rattle and are still easily accessed six at a time. They're great for hunting.

"Slow Loaders" is a good name for them but they are very useful for carrying a spare reload in a belly band -- just put the speedstrip in the slot for the magazine ... you have a reload available and you don't have to worry about droppping the bullets if you put them in there individually.

I bought several a few years ago. Where can you get them now? My gun store just can't seem to find them. Any suggestions?

Believe it or not folks, they used to be what were used for "quick" reloads. They still have some utility uses. I wish MTM still made their pistol wallets for carrying spare magazines without gathering lint and dust in the process.

Dairycreek, you can get them from Dillon Precision Products (800) 762-3845. Stock # 14692. They're $6.50 for a package of two.

About the only use that I've ever found for USA magazines is as expensive speed strips.

If you clip the last two loops off the magazine spring in a USA Desert Eagle .357 or .44 magazine, you can thumb rounds out of the magazine directly into the revolver chambers.

Works really well for single-action revolvers and so-so for double action ones.

I've carried the bianchi speed strips some over the years.
They are not real quick. However, I think they are much better than lose rounds in you pocket.

Bianchi Speed Strips are available from Dillon (the reloader folks), among others. The strips are quite useful and anyone who thinks they are "slow loaders" should try loading with loose rounds carried in the pocket...that's SLOW.

One of the best uses of the speed strips is to use them IN ADDITION to speedloaders. If you've shot dry, then load with the speedloader. If you've solved the problem (for now) with, say, two rounds, then do a tactical load, using the speed strip to top off your partially depleted revolver.
