Speed Six for sale need advice

The owner of our LGS has a Speed Six (blue 2.75 barrel) for sale for $500, ( he is the original buying and owner). It appears to been in excellent condition and he still has his original MI. Purchase Incense from the 1980's, listing Williams Gun Sight as the seller he him being the buyer. My concern is that Williams did a "trigger job" on the weapon upon the buyers request before it was delivered to him. I checked the DA pull and it is super smooth and light. If it was left stock I would feel alot better about buying it.

I just bought a used speed six, stainless, 357, 3" barrel. Manufactured 1985.
I would buy that gun in a heartbeat. If you do not like the trigger have a gunsmith install the original spring that belongs to that firearm. If you let it go you probably won't find another one. And the 2.75" barrel is very rare and hard to find. BUY IT!!!

I was thinking the same thing: I could always buy a heavier Wolf spring and throw it in if I don't like the DA pull, the trigger is very smooth, so they probably did some polishing. Williams Gunsight is a reputable company here in Mich. they currently have trigger jobs packages starting at a basic tune up..if they did the work I would not be too concern, but you never know.....

I would not be to worried about it, if it was just springs then that's an easy fix and if they cleaned up the action then it should just be even better.

Factory triggers pretty well suck across the board making a trigger job not only a benefit but generally a requirement. Never understand the worry.

.

I would have complete confidence in any work coming out of the Williams Gun Sight Co shop; and think you do yourself a dis-service by considering the trigger job a negative.

I'd pass on $500, but they honestly are pretty much drying up....so I guess if it's worth it to you...?

I wouldn't worry about the trigger job either like others have said. Nothing a Wolff Spring can't fix.

They have been out of production since the late 1980s, if memory serves.
Whether that affects their value or not might be a consideration.
As far as having a modified trigger, they really could use it.
Especially if you shoot double action.
But is a Speed Six any more desirable that a low mileage, current model Ruger DA revolver, for $500?

^ Speed Sixes don't turn up for sale every day so if it checks out and you really like it I'd roll up my sleeves and start negotiating being fully prepared to go to the asking price if necessary.

$500 is a bit high but you may not see another good one for a loooong time, so don't let a few bucks stand in your way.

Picked it up this morning. Price was a little high but the condition is excellent. I wanted one for a long time every since I sold my Security Six years ago. Took it to the woods a few hours ago. Real nice groups at 20 yards with Fed. 125 gr. HP's. Recoil is comfortable. Shoots center of target and a tad low. This gun makes my sp101 feel like a runt. I don't have anything against a professional trigger job, but I when buying a use gun I would rather it be factory stock.
