I had the blue, 4" heavy barrel version of that .357 and carried it as my duty gun 82-83. It was a great sixgun.

I never looked at Rugers much, but that looks like something I would want added to my small collection. That is one handsome revolver :).

Nice! I have the .38 spl Speed-Six I bought new back in the 80's...I put Pachmayrs on it (I love the look of those wooden grips but they aren't very functional for my hands). I've always loved that gun, still do, and it's one straight shooter. Eats +P ammo all day if you want it to. I'll never sell it. Would love the .357 version but I just got a GP-100 instead :D

NICE !

A buddy of mine has one of those. He put Pach grips on it. They look ugly, but make the gun much easier to shoot for both of us.

Now if you want to really make us turn green with envy, tell us you picked it up for $ 250 !

Enjoy your new Ruger.

P.S. - I wonder if anyone made a Tyler kinda grip adaptor that would fit a Speed Six ?

They did and I had one; but it's been so long I just can't remember what the model # was. I am inclined to think it was whatever model fit the Security/Service Sixes- but don't put any money on that.

Edited to add: Size 8, bottom of this page.

Thanks guys!
It shoots great and the grips aren't too bad. My youngest son and I went out plinking and to my surprise he out-shot me! He said the Speed Six is his new favorite :D. We shot full powered 357 and 38 plinkers. I expected the 158 Hornady XTPs @ 1400 fps to kick like a mule, but it really wasn't that bad. This gun has some heft @ 32 oz., but that weight makes the magnum loads fun to shoot.

The price was $450. It came with 225 rounds of ammo (38 and 357), 2 leather holsters, 2 speed strips, and a pocket ammo pouch. It was a really good deal. I don't know much about holsters: The tan one says "Buckeimer Concealer". The black one says "Idaho Leather Company". Any info on these holsters? Here are a couple pics.

$450 with ammo and extras? Excellent buy.

Now Tyler-T makes a grip adapter for your Speed Six. Keeps the original grips but adds a front filler.

I'd get that.

One of my Speed Six's above. It's DAO with a Ruger Speed Six dao hammer.

And my other Speed Six.

Yes they have Eagle Secret Service grips to! But Eagle does not make them anymore. Yea, bummer.

I know he made one for the Security Six. I found this original Melvin Tyler T grip on one of the auction sites a couple of years ago for the Security Six. Those are great looking Speed Sixes above, they're getting harder to find.

Wow! You got a sweet Speed-Six there...............and an even sweeter deal too!:)
Congratulations!

Boa2-- Thanks, I'm really liking it so far.

Def Smith and ZebraRanger-- Those are some fine specimens and thanks for the information on grip options.

The hunt is part of fun, but it can be bitter sweet. I started looking 3 years ago and through that time I came across only one other. A local gunshow had a worn blued model, but I was holding out for stainless.

That hunt is over, so now I'm on the prowl for a 4" GP.

I wish I could say the "HUNT" was completely over, but who would I be fooling in the "revolver forum". We know it's never really "over" so to speak, and I think many of you revolver nuts will vouch for me on that. ;)
