SpecOps VS SpecOps NRS question

Is it really worth having the recoil reduction? I am on the budget and it would cost me double to get the one with the recoil feature. This is going to be my first shotgun, and I wanted to ask before I purchase the stock because I don't want to shell out $100+ for something I don't need.

Opinions please

P.S. I am 5'10" 205 LBS all muscle

The recoil reduction does indeed help, but it also can make the stock more fragile. The pins and springs are all potential points of failure (yes, I have had one let go).

Personally, I find that capability worth it- I don't know that I'd sacrifice a traditional stock for the SpecOps (due to the loss of good cheek weld) if it wouldn't do something useful like reduce the whack to my shoulder.

I ended up buying a spec ops after going through 3 stocks. LOP was my first and foremost consideration. Hogue 12" too short, speed feed III too long, and the Standard 870 synthic too long. The Spec ops adjusts to what ever I am wearing and as a bonus it does help to reduce recoil. Had to slightly adjust my "cheek weld" if you want to call it that but I like the results.

If it's your first shotgun, I suggest keeping the original stock. Learn how to use the gun, then experiment and get a feel for other guns and then figure out what you know you like before blowing money on something you'll probably take off after you shoot it the first time.
