Special Edition Ruger Vaquero

I have come across a ruger Special Edition Vaquero that never been fired. The reason that I am on here looking is that I am unable to find information on this pistol. The pistol has 2 interchangeable cylinders. The 45 long colt, and the 45 acp. According to Ruger they never made this pistol, however It was shipped from Ruger to Davidson in 1999. I am trying to find any information on this gun, any help would be greatly appericated. If anyone could let me know how many of these guns were made, and where I could go to find out? Thank you for your time. The gun didn't even come with the test round that would of been fired through it.

ok, so have you called Davidson and asked if they have any record of the gun?

that is odd that Ruger does not have it registered as inventory, maybe it is a customer build?

Did it look like this one? This is a Davidson's Convertible made in 1999. I don't have any idea how many were made, but this is the only one I have seen.

I have three Davidson's 5 1/2" .38-40/.40 S&W convertible Vaqueros, two of them consecutively numbered. There were 674 made with 4 5/8" barrels and 753 with 5 1/2" barrels. These typically bring ~$600 - $800, but I've seen bidders go nuts on gunbroker and bid them up over $1000. The .32-20/.32 H&R mag convertibles are more rare and bring a bit more. I don't know the value of the .45 Colt/.45acp convertibles, but I think they were likely the most common of the convertibles, simply due to the most popular caliber, .45 Colt.
