spec ops / vang comp range report

Took out my Mossberg 590 yesterday for the first time since its mods. It is sporting the 20" barrel with heat shield. The mods include:

  • Sage combat ghost ring sights with tritium bead
  • Vang Comp system with compensated barrel and back-boring
  • Knoxx SpecOps stock

I shot 30 2-3/4" magnum shells, a mix of #1, 00 buck, rifled slugs, and also some federal tactical 00 buck.

The combination of the VC system and the Knoxx stock are really unbelievable.

The VC system resulted in VERY tight patterns (5.5" with 00 tactical buck at 35 feet) and approx. 3-5" muzzle flip with the magnum slugs (biggest kicking round fired). The gun stayed relatively flat with all rounds. They really know their stuff!

The Knoxx stock is really something that must be tried to believe. I was skeptical of it but shelled out the somewhat steep price in hopes that it performed a fraction as well as advertised. Let me tell you, it was worth EVERY penny. The adjustable LOP was greatly appreciated, and the felt recoil was more like a small push backwards in the shoulder rather than a fist punching you. Follow-up shots were a breeze and eight shells went like it was nothing. I was actually shocked when I ran out of shells because I was ready for more. After all these magnum shells my shoulder felt almost like nothing had happened. I was waiting for a bit of tenderness this morning and nothing.

Thank you Knoxx for such a fantastic product, I recommend it to EVERY shotgun owner. Looks cool too
