Spear Hunting?

I came to specifically to find information on spear hunting for wild hogs. I want to know the basics and some stories you guys have of this fascinating sport. I know that you usually use dogs when you hunt for boars for spears. Where should I aim with my spear? What is the best boar spear out there? and has anyone ever hunted for pigs without using dogs?

Thanks for the help

This looks like the dog method you use. But if you are not insisting on the spear, we just use a knife... the way we do it puts a guy in more contact with the hog and dogs. The bay dogs do what you see in the vid then we send in a bulldog to catch. At this point the hunter who is sticking the hog can has as much involvement in the hog "Toss" and pull dogs off then stick it or just go in and stick it while it is dog caught...
If you just want to spear, then I guess you tube likely has plenty that will pop up as you search it.

There are boar spears you can purchase. But I have killed one hog with a home made spear. I took an el cheapo Rambo knife look-a-like. Unscrewed the bottom providing a hollow handle. Hammered a long wooden dowl up the handle. Little sports tape for a grip.

I've seen where guys hunt elevated from a tree stand. They will hurl the spear at the hog that is very close.

I stalked one...well, several. It took a long time before I finally did it. Many, many hogs didn't hang around long enough. But I finally ended up with the right situation, wind and hog. Everything just seemed to fall into place.

As far as shot placement...the same as with any other weapon...behind the shoulder and bury it deep.
