Speaking of .45ACP Revolvers...

Ruger makes a Blackhawk in .45 Colt with a cylinder swap capability that converts it to .45ACP. Very cool, IMHO. However, this gun is only available in blue, whereas I think stainless is a much better finish for a revolver.

Furthermore, according to Davisons, Ruger is making a limited edition Vaquero in .38/40 that has a convesion cylinder to .40S&W.

Okay, Ruger. When are you going to make a stainless Vaquero in .45 Colt that swaps out to .45ACP?

(Of course, one may as well ask when Ruger is going to make a 10mm P90... )

Guess what? They exist!

At least 1,000 stainless Vaqueros in dual-caliber .45 were produced for Davidson's. They show up on Gunbroker.com and such sometimes...most seem to have been 5.5" barrels. There were another 1,000 in blue/casecolored that weren't as popular and are easier to find. These are NOT a Ruger cataloged item, but then again neither are the .40S&Ws.

If you can't find one online, call Davidson's and see if they know which dealers might have some... www.davidsons.com I think.

...or you could do like I did and get one of the stainless .38-40's and ream the .40 cylinder out to 10mm Auto. :D

Yes indeed Jim, they do exist and I'm a proud owner of one.

I didn't originally go out looking for one. I was just looking for a .45LC Ruger Vaquerro and happened to find this one. At the time, I didn't know they existed either.

Since I shoot a ton of .45 ACP through my 1911's, it really made sense to have this option.

Mine is the stainless version and it shoots like a dream with either cylinder.

I own a stainless 45lc/ACP Vaquero in a 4 5/8" bbl. I searched high and low for it, and found one on Gunbroker.com for $425 new. By the way, Davidson`s made 1500 of these in a limited run. It shot nice groups with ACP lead loads, (about 1 3/4" at 25 yds), although 3-4" to the left. I`m presently waiting for Ruger to adjust it`s windage. Good luck in your search!;)
