Speaking of .380's...

My fiance recently decided to get her CCP. She has a Bersa Thunder .380, and took the shooting part of her training with this pistol.
She had shot it maybe 50 times TOTAL in the couple of years she has had it.

After the shooting was over, she called to tell me how she had done....she said "I got 235 points out of a possible 250, and I was kind of dissapointed I didn't get a perfect score"....."The instructor took a look at my gun, and said I probably would have got a perfect score if the little thingy on the back wasn't missing".
I asked her WHAT "thingy" was missing? She said "you know, the thingy on the back"...

Trying to "decipher" her explanation, I said, on the front you have a little sight with a white dot, right?? She says "yes"........OK, and on the back you have a blade with two white dots that you center the front dot in when you aim...right??
She says "no, I got a black piece with two little horns sticking up, one on each side"....
Long story short, she qualified with a 235 score while shooting a pistol with NO rear sight!!!!:p
the blade had fallen out, and she had not noticed it was missing!!! How about them apples!!
Man, I better be VERY, VERY good to Lil' Ms. Oakley!!!:D

Thats about as bad as around my house I get stuff like " you know that girl that was in that movie we saw a couple of years ago and we both liked".... Good score though for sure. Bersa Thunders are straight shooters.

A thingie is kind of like a deal only different. You have to know the speaker well to understand.

That's awsome that she shot so well. We have similar conversations in our house, except I'm usually the one talking about thingy's and deals. My memory is horrible! Unless it's for useless information, then I'm alway all over it :D

Congratulations to her on that fantastic score . . she should be proud of it. And obviously, she is doing it right by concentrating on the front sight . . . even if the rear is gone! :D I had a Bersa Thunder CC 380 at one time . . . I liked it. Take her out for a nice dinner to celebrate .. . she deserves it!

Have her call Eagle in NJ and tell them she lost sight screw and spring They more than likely mail them free . Install set sight and use blue loctight on the screw. They come from factory with screw loctight and people adjust sight Don't loctight and then ............ At Bersachat we know the story. I tell people to make sure sight center Then leave it alone . At range Bersa designed to be used no need to adjust sight its not a target pistol use a little Ky windage.

There is a combat shooter in the making! Sights are overrated anyway. I don't care for 380s but if she can put 5-10 shots with out really "aiming" into the chest at sd ranges she will have one hell of a deterrent.

Thanks folks for the contact info for Bersa....but I had already ordered and received the parts I needed.
Got a couple of extra sight blades, springs and screws.
Since I don't know how/when she lost the blade, I figured maybe I should get some spares.....
Thanks for the replies.....:D

I have seen this before.

The Late Jim Cirillo would often tape over the rear sights on the pistols of particular students. Of those students, about one-third, shot more accurately with the same gun & ammo combination. Jim used this technique on students successfully on a 'as-needed bais', but unfortunately this training method died with him.

More than once I saw an 'average' shooter from apprx. 20 yards, put 10 out of 10, or 20 out of 20, point of aim point of impact, shots on target that a poker playing card could cover. Not always, but not uncommon either. Jim always had rear sights on every gun I saw him with. And he would go thru great lengths at teaching students how to use them; he had some intresting methods.

I keep hearing that women just mop the floor with men using smaller guns, I didn't believe it until my wife and I rented a K9. She got a better group than I did by far, I've shot about 10,000 rounds in the last 2 years shes shot maybe 200..really hits your manhood! On the plus side, I still kick her butt with a 1911.
