Spartan Side by Side

I REEEEEALLY want a double barrel shotgun and most are out of my price range. I was looking at the Spartan guns and think they look pretty darn good for the money. I mainly want it for shooting and small game hunting. I just really like the look and feel of a side-by-side. Any thoughts on the Spartan guns? How much should I expect to pay for the field (blued reciever) sxs? I am more concerned with durability then looks, although I like the rather "spartan" look of the guns as opposed to the super fancy ones I have seen before.

They are generally rugged guns, I have a coachgun imported by EAA and one of the recent ones imported by Remington.
Not fancy, but they should hold up.
You should be able to pick any version up for well under $400.

spartan side by side shotgun

I have two spartan sxs (12 & 16 ga) I was surprised on the workmanship and wood. Very good for the price. The wood to metal fitting is ok not the best in the world. They are a bit heavy (More than what the catalog states). These are good workman like guns. Nothing fancy but they work. I have a gut feeling they won't be around so I'd snap one up. By the way, the 16ga is built on a 12ga frame so don't be surprised. I like these better than the Savage 411. They seem to be better balanced, at least mine our. Hope this helps. Take care, good hunting and God bless!
