Spartan Shotguns

What do you think about the new imported Spartan line of shotguns sold by Remington (on Remington web site). I was wondering if anyone had any of them, esp. the sporting single shot, and if they liked them. They are supposed to be quality guns at an inexpensive price, and they have a lot of extras.

They are the Russian made Baikal shotguns. They have been imported for some time now in the US.

They are solid well made but not fancy guns.

Thanks, Geoff! I do think a lot of people have the Bailkal guns. My concern was availability of parts, but I don't think that would be too much of a problem. What do you guys think?

Nice rugged gun. I have the spr310 in 12 gauge and it patterns well. I bought it to hunt with, and rightfully so because the finish is rather rough. The fit however is pretty good and its nicely balanced. I payed $400 for it through my local FFL.

I have also "read" that barrels and stocks are near impossible to aquire. I haven't heard anything about internals. I think they use EAA as a repair facility.

I have an IZH-27(spartan 310) Baikal. I love this thing, it shoots great and fits like a glove.
I somehow lost both ejectors and the spring and rods last fall after cleaning the gun(if I only had a brain.....)anyway I ordered the parts from EAA on Thursday and had them in the mail on Monday. If that isn't great service I don't know what is.
By the way why would you need to order barrells?

If you want more chokes than the ic, m, f that come with the gun TRULOCK makes very high quality chokes for the Baikal/Spartan.

I guess i'm a nerd, but I think I'll get that Spartan single shot. Single shots are cheaper, and I like the looks of that SP-100, even though it's expensive for a single shot, compared to their others.

Baikal/Spartan guns are certainly top quality for the price. I have the Baikal IZH-43 SxS which is the same as the Spartan SPR210 and I couldn't be happier with it.

Salber01: Wow, that's the first positive thing I've ever heard about EAA customer support. Alot of gunshops I was looking through in Reno trying to find a Witness said they refused to carry EAA firearms 'cause the tech-support just isn't there from the company.

I think EAA is just happy to be able to sell whatever parts they still have in inventory after they lost the import rights to the guns. They won't be getting any more of the shotguns in, good business to sell parts no longer needed. They do have a reputation as being a little hard to deal with on service issues normally.

I've got the SPR210, paid 329.00 for it. While I'm still learning how to use a shotgun, experienced shooters have tried it and were very pleased. Nice gun for the money.......:)
