Spare cylinder: Compatibility Uberti and Pietta

I figured out a great way to solve my second cylinder issue.

I just bought a 2nd 1860. i figure the whole point was to reduce the amount of down time. The cylinder was going to cost 90 after shipping and found a great deal on a 1860. Maybe I will leave one in the safe and just use the cylinder from it.

Though I do like the idea of dual holsters. It would just mean a bigger cleaning chore.

Pistol on the left butt forward. Pistol on the right butt back. It may not be the smoothest transition (slower then a mag swap) but it will be fun.

just bought a Uberti 1860 army. I was thinking of buying a spare cylinder.

However the only one I can find is made by Pietta.

Will the Pietta cylinder working in my Uberti?

If not can you help me find a Uberti. I found this one from Dixie Gun works but it more expensive and I am not sure who makes it.

I just got finished building (2) Remington frankensteins, one has Pietta cylinder, Uberti frame, and ASM barrel, and Navy Arms NOS loading lever. The other has ASM barrel, unknown frame, and unknown cylinder, from 3 different sources, all used. Both guns went together and are now shooting just fine- but both required fitting/filing.

Here's the issues of concern: cylinder to barrel/frame gap, if it's too tight, file the frame and barrel, not the cylinder. If it's loose, you have to live with it.

issue #2- the locking bolt on some guns, comes up more forward in the frame than on others. I had to file both frame bolt slots with a tiny file, extending slot forward, so the locking bolt lug could stick through and lock the cylinders on both guns.

issue #3- some cylinders have bolt slots on the cylinder machined further back on the cylinder than others, this means the locking bolt can't engage it, the bolt is hitting on the flat surface of the cylinder. Then you have to file the locking bolt backward to match the cylinder notch, or file the slot forward to match the locking bolt location, or both.

but overall, all the stuff interchanges with a little work.
