SP101 grips

Hi all...

I'm interested in obtaining boot-style, small finger-groove rubber type grips for my SP101 similar to the Uncle Mikes I have on the 649 and smaller than the factory SP101 grips. Who makes these? If you have them on your SP101, what do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Uncle Mike's (Butler Creek) does make boot grips for the SP-101. They are a bit longer than the S&W versions because of the post-type grip stud rather than the S&W grip frame but I like them very much. They are much more tapered and round-butted toward the bottom than the factory Ruger grips, almost a bird's head in shape. I think they are better than the factory grips and smaller than the Hogue's.

The Hogue finger groove grip is excellent, it's what I've got on my SP101, but they'er quite a bit larger than the factory grips. -- Kernel

Eric, I'm with you man. I don't know why someone doesn't offer this as popular as this little gun is. I think it would clearly benefit from such, because it is heavier and more controllable from a heft standpoint. I think the factory grip is superb and all, but for concealment a less sticky and smaller alternative is needed. I can't stand the current "banana" looking profile that all the companies seem to mimic. So, I took the dremel to a pair of "boot grips" from Butler Creek. I removed about 1/2" from the bottom of the grip. I wound up running into the metal reinforcement plate that runs the full length of the grip. Once past the plate, I simply sanded the grip to blend it in a little better. It looks pretty trick, but definately could stand a more finished factory appearance. I am so hooked on these SP's. They are easy to get apart, work on, but accessories could be more plentiful. Best!
