Southeastern PA deer hunting?

I'm looking for places to start scouting for next rifle season. I live in Berks County. Anyone from PA have any suggestions for good areas to check out?

Close, public access to you - find the clover fields in the French Creek Wilderness hunting area.
Another option - get a steel framed mountain bike and run over one of the hundreds of tame ones in Valley Forge park.

Nolde Forest issues limited number of licenses each year. It might be shotgun only these days.

Try the lower edges of Hawk Mountain. Deer feed in the fields at night and bed within the forest during the day.

I would suggest thta you go to the PA game commission website and look at the different state game lands (SGL's) that are in the area you are interested in hunting. Take a drive there on a saturday and do some walking around. You should be able to see deer sign if there are many deer. The big complaint amoung PA-ians has been that the state allowed the shooting of too many does and after a couple of years, there aren't many deer. This may be true to some degree, but there are still lots of deer, you just have to find them.

How far are you from Blue marsh lake? Game land #280 surrounds it, good for deer and small game. It has lots of food , cover and woods. They also stock it with pheasant. The lake is great for fishing and boating too. Just NE of Reading on rt. 183.
It can get overhunted some, but theres plenty of land to hunt around there and also along rt. 176.
