South African Ammo - Is Denel the same as PMP?

A local store advertised new South African PMP ammo for $109.95/1,000. I've had good results with PMP .223 ammo and the price sounded excellent, so I went in and bought a case. The only thing is, it is Denel rather than PMP. Seems like I heard this may not be quite as good. It is brass cased and reloadable. I think I can order PMP for just a few dollars more. I will probably get a few cases and use the brass for reloading, so I'd like to stick with the same brand for consistency.

So, should I take the Denel back, or is it just as good as PMP?

Thanks.

Doug

They are divisions of the same company.
I am not sure which is the parent company.
I think it is PMP.

As I understand it they are both basically the same Company as denfoote stated, only the denel is I believe the version that goes to their military and so is mil-speced, while PMP is the civilian brand. I ordered a case of that very ammo and It worked fine in glock/Beretta/HK P7/Browning and CZ's. It was very clean and you should keep it. BTW what store has it? Can you give me its # and address I would like to get some more.
Thanks

Thanks for the responses. I got it from a store call "Old Sacramento Armory" in (you guessed it) Sacramento, California. They have an add in the May 8th Shotgun News on page 187 as GFCC Corp. The number is 1-800-704-4867. They take credit cards. They sell this ammo for $109.95/1,000 SHIPPED (i.e. - no additional shipping charge). I could actually have bought it cheaper if I'd had it shipped out of state (no tax). They also have South African .223 for $159.95/1,000 shipped. If you want to pick it up in the store, I'd call first, I've heard that sometimes they boost the price some for walk-in customers (at least on the .223 - the 9mm was the same price in the store).

There are other adds in shotgun news for pretty similar prices, but I didn't see any that included shipping.

Century International Arms Inc. (800-527-1252) has PMP. The 9 mm 115g fmj is advertised at $54.87/500 and .223 at $91.87/500. I believe these prices include the shipping with lower prices if you buy 1000 rounds. Good luck.

In the .223 caliber the PMP(Gazelle on box) is the commercial load, and the Denel is military M193 ball ammo, and come in 30 round cardboard containers. Both the Denel and PMP shoot extremely well in my Colt AR.

I have bought both. Both are a little underpowered, but clean and reliable and of course well priced. The brass is reloadable but beware it thick brass, it is heavier then commercial and will take less powder, therefore the same powder charge as a commercial case will result in more pressure in these cases, so back off 10% and work up.

My second critisism is there is no sealant on the primer or the bullet nor long term packaging. I have a car model AR and these weaker loads are further reduced by my shorter barrel. But for practic or plinking its good stuff, dirtier then my reloads but acceptable.
