?Sources of Wood Grips for SIG 225?

Does anyone know of a source for these, type of wood and experiences? I really like the plastic ones, but wood can't be beat. I'd also like to know if the width/fit is any wider than the plastic. The ultimate grips would be of my own curley maple. I don't think that I possess the skill to tackle that one. I'd be happy to make 1911 thin slabsides.

Try Houge. They make Rosewood grip panels for the P220 and P226, they may also make them for the P225.

SIG Arms. They offer wood grips for the entire P Classic pistols.

Houge makes the SIG wood grips for SIG.

I was wondering if the 225 is still on the market (and in .357 sig)? And would you be able to 'splain why, at the SigArms web site at least, the 228 is listed as "for law enforcement only"? :)

Yes the 9mm P225 is still available. It isn't produced in any other caliber. For a similar sized pistol in 357SIG and 40SW look into the P239.

There are conflicting views as to why SIG Arms opted to limit the flow of the P228 to the US civilian market. Some say it's caving in to PC demands (this sounds lame as the P229 in 9mm, 40SW and 357SIG was never restricted), others claim it was done to create greater demand for the 9mm P229, the idea that sales were so low that it didn't make sense to offer the P228 and later the 9mm P226 to the civilian market has also been floated, lastly a group of folks claim the decision was based on sheer produciton capacity-such is the demand for the P228 that SIG Sauer couldn't possibly meet large LE and military contracts without sacrificing the civlian market. I don't know which is true. Last year SIG Arms claimed that by December the P228 would be once again available to civilians, this year it claims that by June while I was told that by this December. Periodically SIG Arms does relese small batches to the US civilian market. Be aware that there are two types now offered, German made and assembled and German made and US assembled.
