Source of firearms drying up - sort of

flashhole

This is where I purchased my last two rifles. I don't think it will be available in the future.

This is the second "500 year flood" in 5 years. The damage from this flood surpasses the 2006 flood that was hearlded as "The 500 year flood". I think Gander Mountain will most likely close this store in Binghamton, NY as they hottly debated re-opening after the last flood. I live in Owego, NY. We live on top of a hill in a terrain of hills and valleys, we lost power for a few hours and are siphoning water from our pool because it is overflowing. Not a big deal for us as we live in an upland farming comminty and are fairly self sufficient. 10" of rain in 48 hours has just devistated the local communities that were built up around the Susquehanna River. Here is a pic of the Gander Mountain Store in Binghamton, NY. The point the water level is at the pillars is over my head and I stand 5' 9". The water is still rising.

Jeepers Creepers... That's sad... Obviously that one's not built on a mountain.

Well... maybe at least they can use their kayaks to get around inside the store... I guess someone's going to be deep-cleaning a bunch of guns soon.

I feel your pain. My family is downstream of you in PA. They are telling me that the water is past the 1972 flood caused by Hurricane Agnes. The "Suzie Q" is usually a very pleasant easy going river that I have fished since childhood. Hopefully, it'll calm down soon for us both.

Actually, this may be an opportunity to pick up something you wanted, for real cheap...because of the "water damage". Flood damaged goods should not be sold as new, but if you can get to them quickly enough you should be able to prevent any real damage.

They won't sell flood damaged firearms. Just by coincidence I had a rifle on layaway in 2006. The flood hit and the corporate office sent me my money back. A full year later they re-opened and had an identical gun. I kept my paperwork from the privious transaction and the manager honored the sell price I had on the first gun.

We could use some of that water here in Texas. This is the first actual drought I have ever lived through. All the grass and foliage still remaining is yellow and dying. Ponds and creeks are completely dried up. And there is no hope of rain anytime soon. And the idiots are still throwing cigarette butts out car windows and causing grass fires left and right.
