Source for cheap 9mm ammo

I've been looking through the forums and that someone recommended Century Arms as a good source of bulk ammo.

I'm looking to purchase several thousand rounds of 9mm ammo. Does this seem to be a good deal to you? Why or why not?

9mm LUGER, 115gr., FJ
50 rds./box, 500 rds./case.
AM084 $7.49/Box
One 500 rd. case $72.87

I'd be using it for self-defense and hunting.

Cheap ammo?

If you trust the company that is a good price. Did they tell you what velocity to expect with their loads? I have seen some "cheap" ammo that wasn't worth shooting.

some shops in Puget Sound area..

has American Eagle 124gr FMJ for 11.99 -12.99 box.
Get what you can, where you can!

ammoman.com has Wolf 9mm 115gr FMJ, steel cased, for $169.00/1000 delivered. Yeah, steel ammo can wear an extractor but extractors can be replaced.

Fleet Farm

I purchased some brass American Eagle for 12.99 / carton. I bought 1500 rounds to stockpile since ammo is going up.

With these brass casings can't I save them and reload?

Would it be better to buy a good ammo and reload instead of a cheaper ammo and reload?

One of the primary reasons I buy economy or bulk ammo is for the brass. I burn it up and then reload it with powder and bullet combo's designed for my shooting needs.

While there may be some good deals out there, even when factoring shipping costs, I buy ammo from Wal-Mart. I find it to be the best overall deal, and you can use it the day you buy it.

I just grabbed the last boxes 9mm Blazer Brass off the Walmart shelf today. At $9/box, it's the best deal I've been able to find.

I bought a ton of Blazer brass 45ACP, back when they had it at less then ten dollars a box. (Now its about 15) Glad I did,I'm going to be scrounging that brass for a good long time.

Local gun show. Buy in bulk, usually no taxes. 1,000rds of the cheapest brand new 9mm was going for $185-$195 last time at my local gun show. Most of it was going for $200-$250. 1,000rds of once-fired reloaded 9mm was going for $155.

$11-$12 a box for 9mm is cheap? Prices are out of control!

I was buying 9mm boxes of UMC 115g all day long last summer for $6-$7 a box. Thank God I'm sitting on about about 150 boxes.

Wal Mart +1

I shopped around, and the best price in Cincy is Walmart. 9mm 100 rd packs 18.42+tax for Winchester white box. Pretty much across the board it was cheapest.

40SW 100 rd $24 and change.

45 100 rd box 29.99

When I told the counter associate the 9mm was cheap, she looked at me like I had 2 heads.

Remember folks, cheap is a relative term. And complaining about ammo prices is the same as complaining about gas prices. It isn't going to change the way things are.

As J Cash said, "drive on".

When you're stocking up on ammo, do you stock up on just the cheapest stuff, or do you diversify to include plenty of some thing that's considered more of a "defense" ammo, say at least sort of JHP?

Most ranges won't let you shoot steel Wolf ammo. Georgia Arms has Speer at good prices. Good ammo. You can avoid shipping by catching them at a local gun show. Academy Sports sells the Remington/UMC bulk package. 250 rounds of 9mm 115 FMJ for $50. It's a VERY reliable practice round.

+1 to Georgia Arms

Good company to deal with.

Lately I have been buying HSM ammo from Sportsman's Warehouse for $10.50 a box. I don't buy the really cheap stuff because its mostly junk.
