Source for a low-priced AR lower reciever?

You might want to make sure you get a forged lower, the cast lowers are more prone to problems. Olympic Arms had a problem with a bunch of cast lowers a couple of years ago...

The Oly lowers are not to the same specs as others, they did something like what Colt did. And DMPS are cast. I was thinking of PWA, BM or the such.

what "specs" are you talking about.
my oly lowers take all mil-spec mfg parts (and even aftermarket ones)
and both front and rear take down pins are same size as the others ( bm/ dpms/pwa)
as for cast vs forged i have an early dpms lower which is cast and this rifle has mucho rds through it without any signs of abnormal wear or tear. still cannot figure out why one is better then the other

rifleer1 you are thinking of the Cast recievers. They are way out of spec normally. The OLY Forged recievers are fine. Oh and DPMS now forges their recievers I would in fact recomend one any day of the week. :)

I've built two ARs on Oly lowers and two on EA (Armalite) lowers and can't see any difference. The first Oly is a preban SGW and I shoot the hell out of it as a 20" HBAR,then a SP1 with a rimfire and a 9mm Oly upper. It's your $, but as long as all the parts fit and function like they should your rifle won't shoot any better or last any longer if the lower is cast/forged, Oly, Colt, DPMS, ect.
