Norma makes it new, but at $30/box

Any sources for surplus? Is any of the surplus non-corrosive? My web search didn't turn up much. Thanks.

Unless you get really lucky and stumble on a source of surplus, its unlikely that you will find surplus 7.65 Argentine. Sears was selling the rifles back in the 60's for $19.95 and the ammo for like $3.95 a hundred. I have not seen surplus 7.65 for years. Your best bet is to buy some of that Norma and reload or failing that form some cases from 06 or 8mm Mauser and reload that. One thing if you DO find any..........all I have ever seen has corrosive primers.......clean accordingly.

That's what I thought.

Q-man, no - the 7.65 was the cartridge for the 1891 Argentine Mauser. Who knows how long it's been obsolete.

You can roll your own

Use .30-06 and trim. You can use .308 also. It'll be a little short in the neck, but it won't hurt.

Springfield Sporters

Contact Springfield Sporters at 724-254-2626. They catalog "Argentine 7.65X54 ball ammo made by F.N., very late, non-corrosive" 15 rnds.....$2.70
100 rnds....$12.00
1500 rnds...$165.00

I used to frequent their shop when I was in college, many moons ago. They are pretty good to deal with and have most anything surplus that you can think of.

The Hornady manual, 3rd edition, is the only one of the half dozen or so in my library that lists it. Thay call it the 7.65 Belgian Mauser, but the copy states that it was adopted by several other countries, including most of South America.

rim dia = .474
head dia = .470
case length = 2.090
length to shoulder = 1.860
dia at shoulder = .425
bullet dia = .312

42 grains or so of various powders gives about 2600 fps with the 150 gr. spire point and 2500 with the 174 gr. round nose.

Thanks so much! I have an 1891 that I am considering having rebarreled in another caliber, and wanted to know the power class and size capacity.
